Another throwback from February. I've been slowly going through my photos and found this photo that my friend took of me.
This was a very special day for me and I felt a lot of happiness and love in my heart when I was around these rescued elephants. I've always been, maybe not scared, but cautious of large animals and I have a lot of respect for elephants. We searched for a long time for an ethical elephant sanctuary that would suit us.
If you ever plan to go to a place like this in Asia, PLEASE DO NOT GO ON TOURS WHERE YOU CAN RIDE THE ELEPHANTS. I cannot stress this enough. These animals are not made to carry heavy weights on their backs and they do not like when ppl climb on them. They only allow it after their spirit has been broken by torture. The place we went to only looked after rescued elephants that where bought from places that exploited and harmed them. We fed them and washed them, but at no time where they chained up, ridden or hurt.
Please educate yourself before you book a tour and you will have a wonderful, life changing experience!
