Which do you prefer? A sunny English countryside scene...or a glorious amount of rain? ⬅️️ Swipe the picture and let me know below. Love this idea by @yorkshire.deb of the beautiful Cumbrian countryside. Whenever I fly over Britain the first thing to notice is how incredibly green the country is over here. Well, it does rain quite a lot... but without all that lovely rain we wouldn't have such beautiful abundance of colour. There is so much history in this place it's almost impossible to know where to begin. Cumbria is one of England's most visited regions - for good reason. Much of this hilly region of north-west England is included in the Lake District National Park. This largest of England's National Parks provides an exciting mix of mountain and lake scenery. Postcard-perfect in summer, in autumn the brown bracken of the mountain slopes contrasts with the reds of oak forests and the beginnings of snow-white frosting on the mountain peaks. And, to be fair, there is a lot of rain. In fact a record amount of rainfall that caused the devastating flooding in Cumbria two years ago - between Friday night and Saturday night in December 2015, 341.4mm (13.5 inches) fell in Honister in Cumbria. This is the highest ever recorded amount of rainfall in a 24 hour period in the UK. Yikes! Thankfully the area has mostly recovered and is open for business! Head over to @lake.district to see more shots from this gorgeous place. Thanks to @yorkshire.deb for this great idea! ☔️ 🇬🇧 Want your Photos of Britain to be featured?
