#YearWithoutShopping Day 217:
Sometimes I have to bring out the heels - even though it's Seattle - or I'll forget how to walk in them!
None of my heels get much street time here in the casual PNW, but I felt like dressing up a little for the first time I wore my beautiful @tjuladesign#slitbacktank I won in a @dresswelldogood giveaway. It's so perfect for my look and #style , it'll go with pretty much anything I have!
But speaking of "not much street time" for my heels (and some other things of course): I just learned about the hashtag #30wears a few days ago, and I was totally shocked - not about the initiative of course, but about what it says about #consumerism and #fastfashion . I guess I'm growing old and out of sync with reality, but seriously, who would buy anything but an evening gown without planning to wear it 30+ times??? And 30 still seems such a low number to me. (Even those mean heels have been out in the streets more often than that!)
On top of that, I'm wondering how people expect to develop a personal style if they constantly discard of most of their clothing in favor of new and "more fashionable" items. (Not to mention the ethical problem involved in this kind of shopping pattern.)
I'm curious what's your take on this: Do you think 30 wears is a lot or rather normal or even pretty low?
