Backlit lighting has been my favorite way of shooting landscapes for the last few months. I never even gave light direction a thought until reading @michael__frye's "The Photographer's Guide to Yosemite." I now find myself planning sunrise shoots before work based solely on this light direction; the depth of the walls and the natural gradient from cliff top to bottom are so striking every time.

Trekking out of the Valley to get away from the crowds of people only to run from the high country meadows and lakes to escape swarms of mosquitoes.

Perks of working on top of an indistinctive wall of granite: views like these.

@justcallmegisel reminding me that all parts of The Milky Way are beautiful. Still though. That core.

The faint hum of passing cars, but mostly the distinctive little shrills of birds at this view away from the view.

Here you are. Sitting here, enjoying this beautiful sunrise. It's amazing right? All you can hear are the chirps of birds, water hitting the bottom of bridge pillars, maybe a waterfall in the near distance. It's like 7:30 am and you got a nice buzz goin. @franklinsteinnn is shooting with you and he's got somethin similar to a buzz goin but with somethin else, but oh watch out here comes Mr. Drone. You normally wouldn't mind, but the sound just pierces right through this nearly perfect moment. Drones are already illegal to fly in the park, but if you're going to fly them anyways then please be courteous of others and do it away from trees. #BeMindfulOfTheFalcons

Its beauty rivaled only by its mortality rate. #watchyourstep and be aware of other hikers.

Never have I ever had a more unfortunate opportunity to experience backcountry mosquitoes than I did this weekend. Pooping in the woods is already unexciting. Pooping in the woods with mosquitoes is worse. This amount of deet must be lethal. Ha. Type 2 fun: not fun to do, but fun to remember.

The Fissures at Taft Point. The fog was clearing up on this day and rising fast.
